This is a blog site of Peter DeChamp Stansberry, a web designer in the Phoenix AZ area.

At 26 years old I’m currently a fulltime software tester, I do web design and graphics on the side. I hate that I can’t do web design fulltime but I have put out my resume and have gotten some good offers so we’ll see how that goes. It may be changing sometime soon.

I started web design at around the age of 11 and it started with me at the library for school work and wondering how I could have my own site. Back then graphics were kind of an extra and the pages normally contained mostly text and a few pictures. Nothing that we have now today, with flash being introduced, video, music, and javascripts allowing cool effects. So I started learning html by searching for “Learning html for absolute beginners” and that’s how it started. I can still picture the site that first taught me html. It was a site with rainbow colored buttons and a tan background. Back then it was a good looking site but now it would be considered kids play but to come and think about it I owe the site for my new found interest at the time.dechampgrunge

So I started learning html and then from there I started playing with graphics, I remember I was making gradient horizontal rulers in paint line by line. Then came paintshop and it was on to some high tech graphics (high tech back then that is.) I kept learning and finally in high school we had Mr. Winters that was into the internet; teach a class on web design. It was a great advance because he had all of us help teach each other what we knew individually.

So my love continued for the web and I was determined to go to college to get my degree. In college and learning as much as I could, I picked up Photoshop and flash. I did some 3d max but didn’t get into it that much. I picked up photoshop quickly, always impressing my teachers. Towards the last 3 months of college I stumbled across the world of php and mysql. I was lucky enough to get a chance to take the very first class offered for php and it was very beginners’ class. I was top of the class doing way more than was required. I graduated the year of 2004 and tried to get a job doing web design but being broke from college and no transportation, the market being flooded with all the new web developers I ended up just taking what ever work I could on the side. I’ve continued to do work on the side but I’m tired of it. I’m ready for a full time job doing this as my career. I continue to learn xhtml, css, php and mysql, jquery, xml, rss and everything else I can get my hands on. I’m now applying for web developer jobs but with the economy being down it’s a little nerve-racking.

So now that you have an idea about me, if you’re in need of a website, business card, flyers, or other graphical/coding need then please let me know!
